Saddle Up Stables is a family-owned and operated business. The same family has been running the stable business their entire lives.
In the early 1930s the current owners’ grandfather, Coot, and his brother brought horses from North Carolina to area summer camps in the Adirondacks. His first stable was located at Green Mansions. Soon afterward, Coot was approached by local resort owners to start a stable in Lake George at the famous Sunnybrook Acres Resort, (now known as Twin Birches) In the 1960s he and his two sons opened 6 other stables throughout the region and some were in operation until the 1980s. Now there just remains the one stable, Saddle Up, which is operated by the 3rd generation, sisters Lisa and Suzi, who grew up working at the stables at a young age.
You’ll sometimes find their grown children there to help throughout the summer and grandchildren running around.
We continue to strive for the safest and most professional run stable to ensure our customers a happy and fun ride on horses chosen for each rider.
